A Message to the Visitor
We are very pleased to announce the beginning of our mission to raise funds to support many future grants for sarcoma research. In addition, it is our goal to bring sarcoma awareness to the Philadelphia area. Brian was treated at Pennsylvania Hospital where sarcoma research is currently being done using the GeneChip TM Microarray (known as a “Chip Reader”), a ground breaking new molecular tool for studying genes and their functions. The chip reader enables research scientists to probe samples of DNA for alterations in the normal gene sequence, as cancers are the result of these alterations, i.e. gene mutations. Brian knew he would not live long enough to experience a cure but expressed a strong desire to his doctors to help in the research. We named our socials “In Brian’s Spirit” to keep Brian’s zest for living life and innovative spirit alive. Our goal is to have a Monte Carlo night, a golf outing and one other function every year. The more funds we raise the more research can be done to fight sarcoma. Please share this website with everyone you know, so that we many continue awareness of sarcoma “In Brian’s Spirit”.
