Grant Submission Instructions
Instructions for Grant Submissions

The Sarcoma Foundation of America is pleased to announce its annual call for proposals. Grants of $25,000 are available from the SFA to cover equipment and supplies in support of research into the etiology, molecular biology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of human sarcomas. Grants will be reviewed by the SFA Medical Advisory Board immediately following the application deadline of January 31, 2008. Contributors will be notified on or before April 10th as to the award decision for their proposal. The funds awarded will be then available for research by June 1, 2008.

Submissions must follow the SFA specific format. Applications, including forms, bio sketch(es), and references, must not exceed 10 pages. Biosketches, not CVs, are requested to minimize submission length. Preliminary data to support the application is acceptable, but the 10-page limit is not to be exceeded. Do not submit manuscripts or journal articles.

New investigators and novel approaches in the field are strongly encouraged.

Due to the nature and size of an SFA grant, investigators may need to inform their institution, in writing, of the following:

  1. SFA grants are not to support PI salary; however, part (but not all) of the grant may support technical help.
  2. SFA grants do not support indirect costs of institutions because they fall into the small grant category.

Proposals are to be submitted as follows:

E-mail to: info@curesarcoma.org

                OR

Mail to:

Sarcoma Foundation of America
9884 Main Street
P.O. Box 458
Damascus, MD 20872

The e-mail submission is preferred. If the submission is mailed, it must be received by the Sarcoma Foundation of America by close of business, January 31st, 2008, not postmarked by January 31st.

Proposals that are received on time and meet the submission formatting requirements will be presented to the SFA Medical Advisory Board for merit grading.  Those that arrive after January 31st, or do not meet formatting requirements, will not be considered.  Interested parties may go to the “About SFA” link of the SFA website for a listing of the Medical Advisory Board constituency.  The merit grading will be unbiased and based solely on the scientific merits of the proposal.
