Gary Tomei, Vice President and Director of Legal Affairs, is one of the founding members of the Sarcoma Foundation of America. Tomei is a graduate of Brooklyn College and St. John’s Law School.
Tomei has been a litigator in private practice for most of his professional career, which stretches over 50 years. He has represented clients in criminal and civil matters, on the trial and appellate levels, in the state and federal courts. In addition to his numerous individual clients he has represented the N.Y. State Insurance Department, The N.Y. City Housing Authority, and the N.Y. State Workers Compensation Insurance Department. He is presently of counsel to the litigation firm of Pazer, Epstein and Jaffe.
His various professional memberships include the American Association for Justice, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, New York County Bar Association and the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers. He has acted as an Administrative Judge and an Arbitrator. He has been involved in political and civic affairs his entire life, and as a present resident of Greenwich Village, he is an active member of the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation, the Municipal Art Society and is a founding member of Protect the Village Historic District.
Tomei is married to Addie Bianchi Tomei and together they created and ran the first two SFA annual galas. Addie remains on the Gala Committee and the couple continues their strong support for the SFA Gala, the organization’s annual fundraiser.
