A Life of Laughter - Remembering Luann Verity

Jun 09, 2012 • New York

image Luann Famiglietti was born May 13, 1955 to Albert and Jean Famiglietti in Glen Cove, New York. She has a sister Susan Winkler and a brother Rocco Famiglietti. After graduating Glen Cove High School in 1973 she began working at Photocircuits Corp. Later, she began working at Konica Imaging where she met Martin Verity. They were married on November 8, 1975. Luann and Marty had two children: Coleen and Matthew. Luann was fortunate enough to stay home and raise her children until they started school. While her children were in the Glen Cove Schools, she donated her time and support as the PTA president. Luann was consistently involved in her children’s education throughout their years in the Glen Cove School District.

Luann was a second degree member of the Columbiettes at the Knights of Columbus in Sea Cliff and enjoyed being a lecturer at St. Rocco’s parish in Glen Cove. In 1985, she started working as an office manager for Dr. Edward Skwiersky, a cardiologist in Glen Head. She worked there until 1999. image

In the fall of 1997, Luann was diagnosed with a Leiomysosarcoma in her upper leg. The sarcoma was removed. She went through chemotherapy and radiation after the surgery. Unfortunately, it metastasized to her lungs and continued to spread throughout the rest of her body. She fought valiantly, but she was no match for the sarcoma. Her family and friends were constantly by her side and gave her a tremendous amount of love and support. Luann was a strong woman and never lost her sense of humor while fighting this disease. Her strength and humor helped keep her alive longer. Luann’s laughter was heard the moment you entered a room and her beautiful smile made everyone love her the moment they met her. The Sarcoma Foundation of America is doing all it can to help others fighting this disease, and Luann’s family is proud to help this cause.

Luann’s family would like to honor her this year by having a benefit in her name. This year marks 13 years since she has passed. The benefit is called “A Life of Laughter - Remembering Luann Verity”. 100% of the proceeds are going to the Sarcoma Foundation of America to fund research on this rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Join us on Saturday, June 9th from 7pm-11pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 81 Sea Cliff Ave, Sea Cliff, NY 11579. Tickets are $65 ($40 of each ticket is not tax deductible). There will be an open bar, food, DJ, Chinese Auction baskets, raffles, 50/50, and much more. CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE TICKETS

If you would like to make a donation or purchase raffles, please contact us by email at: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Thank you in advance for your support!
