I started distance running in 2010. All of my runs and races have been in memory of one of the most important persons in my life - my wife of 40 years and my best friend, Lynn Erickson. A wonderful mother, a person who always had something positive to say and do, Lynn lost her life to a soft-tissue sarcoma that was not diagnosed correctly until it was a stage 4 tumor. We thought we had it beat, but then she developed a severe allergic reaction to the primary chemo drug treatment. Despite the chemo, radiation, and surgery, the sarcoma spread to her lungs, and became, essentially, untreatable. At that point, Lynn decided that the quality of her remaining days was more important than the quantity.
