Because of the grassroots nature of the SFA, we are relying on your local ingenuity to develop ideas for fundraising for sarcoma research. Rest assured that we will help facilitate your efforts so that you can have a successful event! Possible fundraising ideas include a cocktail reception, happy hour, wine tasting, bowling tournament, lemonade stand, garage sale, car wash, local run/walk, golf tournament, or gala.
Below is a list of upcoming fundraising events throughout the U.S. that are raising vital funds for sarcoma research. Please get involved!

Late in the summer of 2012, we were told that my mom had advanced metastatic sarcoma. My mom had always been lucky to have really good health, so this was quite unexpected.
She went through very intesnse chemo treatments, radiation and trial drugs. I went with her when she had her head shaved and was fitted for a wig. I remember having a hard time telling her which one I liked best because she looked beautiful in each one she tried on. She handled losing her hair with grace and embraced her new ‘hair-do.’
Sarcoma is not a well-known cancer and thus, is not as well-funded for treatment research. For us, though, we now know it well and treatment research and new innovations are what kept us going.
My mom lost her battle in October of 2013. We miss her every single day and continue to fight for others so they don’t lose their loved ones.
If you are able, I hope you will consider donating to the Sarcoma Foundation of America through my fundraiser.

My husband, David, battled valiantly a rare and aggressive form of sarcoma for 15 months. August 31, 2014 will mark the first anniversary of his passing. While he was still in the early weeks of cancer treatment and we had plenty of hope that he would beat this devastating disease, he and I had planned to take on a physical challenge to celebrate the success of his treatment and simultaneously raise awareness and funds for this rare cancer, which receives practically no public attention or funding. After David’s death, I decided to carry out our original plan and climb Kilimanjaro in August 2014. I dedicate this trek to David’s invincible spirit and intend to channel any funds I raise directly to the Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA), whose goal is to find the cure in our time.

We are pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Swing Against Sarcoma, Bud Lawall Memorial Golf Outing, which will be held on September 20, 2014, at the Bucks Club in Jamison, PA. Harry “Bud” Lawall Jr. was a man like no other. He was an orthotist/prosthetist by trade, but also carpenter, fisherman, golfer, husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Let’s continue to follow Bud’s words of wisdom, “Keep your head up.”
The Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA) was established as a 501(c)3 charitable organization in 2001 to advocate for increased research to find new and better therapies with which to treat patients with sarcoma. In partnership with the Siteman Cancer Center, the SFA will be kicking off the inaugural 1st Annual St. Louis Cure Sarcoma 5K Walk/Run.
The St. Louis Cure Sarcoma 5K Walk/Run, and events like it around the country, have played a significant role in SFA’s ability to invest over $5 million toward sarcoma research, advocacy and education. You can make a positive impact toward the cure for sarcoma by registering to participate in 2014 inaugural event! We will see you there!
The mission of the St. Louis Cure Sarcoma 5K Run/Walk is to create awareness about this extremely rare disease, generate funding for much needed research and provide a place for families impacted by sarcoma to meet. The 1st Annual STLCS race will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at 9:00 AM (Check-in at 7:30 AM). 100% of the proceeds from this event will benefit research for this often aggressive cancer. The proceeds will be split evenly between the Sarcoma Foundation of America and Siteman Cancer Center for local sarcoma research conducted by Brian Van Tine, MD, PhD.
The 7th Annual Florida 5K Run/Walk for a Sarcoma Cure will take place at Central Park in Plantation, Florida on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 5:45 am.
Funds raised through this race will support the Sarcoma Foundation of America and its mission to increase research, awareness, education to better benefit sarcoma patients, their families and caretakers.
