If you are interested in holding a fundraising event, please contact SFA Chapter Manager, Patrice Guzman at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or 301-253-8687. She can help you get started and answer any questions you may have. The SFA has tools for you to use such as our Fundraising Handbook, website assistance and online donations, marketing assistance, and additional tools and suggestions to make the most of your fundraising activities. You can also set up a fundraising page quickly with CrowdRise.
Because of the grassroots nature of the SFA, we are relying on your local ingenuity to develop ideas for fundraising for sarcoma research. Rest assured that we will help facilitate your efforts so that you can have a successful event! Possible fundraising ideas include a cocktail reception, happy hour, wine tasting, bowling tournament, lemonade stand, garage sale, car wash, local run/walk, hosting of a dinner at home, or a larger event like a golf tournament or Gala.
Below is a list of current SFA Fundraising Events happening throughout the U.S. to help raise funds for sarcoma research. Please get involved!
Terminally Illin’ is a collection of comics written during a 23 year old girl’s battle with a rare bone cancer. While enduring harsh chemo treatments, Kaylin teamed up with her friend, Jon, and they worked on the stories. The laughter helped to ease the pain. They want to share this laughter and imagination with others that might find it helpful or entertaining. After all, laughter is the best medicine!
Think of Terminally Illin’ The Comic Book as the subversively humorous, bad pun filled, “Alice and Wonderland” meets “sci-fi action adventure” side of cancer.
A limited number of hard copies of the comic are available at http://cancercomicbook.com/.

My mom, Sue, was diagnosed with cancer in March of 2011. Her diagnosis was stage IV Sarcoma, a cancer that makes up 1% of total cancer diagnoses. With Sarcoma being a rare form of cancer, my mom had a very poor prognosis. Thankfully, through the knowledge and dedication of her medical staff, prayers from family, friends, and strangers, and her strong spirit. she has overcome her original prognosis and is currently in remission! I am raising money to celebrate my mother and the obstacles she has overcome, helping to create a future of hope for all those diagnosed with Sarcoma. My training goal is to beat my PR of 1:48 and run the Garry Bjorkland half-marathon in 1:40, about 7 min 40 sec mile splits. Your support through thoughts, prayers, good vibes, companionship on long runs, donations, motivating quotes and what have you, is extremely meaningful and encouraging to me. Thank you! -Meghan Flattery
