A lot of life packed into a short stay. Jake died from a rare and aggressive Sarcoma, which was discovered in March 2015. During his courageous battle he was an inspiration to many and wrote about his brave battle in an Internet Blog called Jake’s Long Journey where he shares his thoughts and insights that he gained during his battle with cancer: www.jakeslongjourney.blogspot.com.

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. If you don’t have the effort to strive for better then you are lazy. You should always be looking for things to improve in yourself. When I say this I don’t mean body image, but I mean as a human being you should always be looking to become better. Always set goals. The goals help you achieve anything, even if it’s just to get through this really painful week of school or work. “

Jake wished for more funding to go into Sarcoma research and increased awareness, it is a type of cancer that mainly affects young people and is often missed or misdiagnosed until it has metastasized. His family and friends are raising funds for this important foundation that was close to Jake’s and our hearts.
