Nicholas Andrew Schaper  4/28/87 – 5/18/17

Nick was an amazing young man. He was diagnosed with synovial cell sarcoma in 2011 at the age of 24. His treatment included chemo, radiation & surgery. By 2012, Nick was cancer free. Unfortunately, it was short lived. His cancer returned by December 2014.

Nick was determined to beat his cancer. Once again, he did chemo & radiation. He desperately wanted to have surgery to remove his left lung, which contained the majority of the tumors. Unfortunately, it couldn’t be done.schaper1

Nick sought out various clinical trials including Sloan Kettering in NY & MD Anderson in TX. He was scheduled to have another consultation with MD Anderson on 5/17/17, but he could no longer travel.

Nick lost his cancer battle on his own terms, at home, surrounded by his loved ones & his beloved animals.

Nick touched so many lives in his 30 short years and was dearly loved. He was kind, generous, thoughtful and passionate about the things that he loved, his wife, his parents, his siblings and their families, his extended family and friends–and his animals. He was most at home in the outdoors and on his bike. We honor his life and we will never forget him.
