Andrew Collins

Andy Collins, the beloved son of Edith and Terry Collins, lost his hard-fought battle with cancer on the 18th of September, 2017. He died surrounded by family and friends. He was a decorated firefighter with 21+ years of service. His loves were his family and friends, history, Dave Matthews Band, and his boxers, Tigger and Lila. He graduated from Douglass High School in Upper Marlboro, MD, where he lettered in baseball for three years as the starting catcher and then the University of Maryland with a degree in history. His other recreational sports were football and wrestling. He was a fan of the Orioles, the Ravens, and the Redskins. He loved the Northwest and took a road trip out there every year to see Dave Matthews Band and the beautiful views and to visit with the multitude of friends he’d made there. Andy was 39 when diagnosed and had barely turned 40 when he died. He was a good son, a good friend, and a great person. He died too early and the family would like donations to be given in lieu of flowers so that no other person will have to suffer as he did.
