Sarcoma Awareness Month Resolution Passes U.S. Senate

The Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA), the largest funder of private research in the sarcoma community and an organization dedicated to raising sarcoma awareness, commends the United States Senate for passing a resolution yesterday, declaring July Sarcoma Awareness Month. SFA’s 2nd Annual Last Mile Research Grant Opportunity Now Accepting Applications

The Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA) announced today it has begun accepting proposals for its Last Mile Research Grant. In its second year, the research funding opportunity provides one-year grants of $150,000, to support translational science research on the etiology, molecular biology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of human sarcomas. Completed applications must be submitted by April 3, 2023, at 5:00 pm EDT. This grant mechanism is available for sarcoma researchers to provide funding to strengthen the resubmission of a National Cancer Institute (NCI) NCI R01 proposal where the member is the project director and principal investigator on the application. SFA Accepting 2023 Research Grant Proposals

The Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA), an organization dedicated to increasing research and awareness for sarcoma, is now accepting proposals for pre-clinical, translational, and clinical research on the etiology, molecular biology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of human sarcomas. The deadline for submissions is 5:00 p.m., ET, on February 1, 2023. The SFA grants are awarded on an annual cycle from June 1 to May 31. For each awarded grant, funding of up to $50,000 in total cost is available to cover equipment, supplies and other expenses in support of research within the period of performance. SFA Partners with Jordan’s Dream Fund to Assist Sarcoma Patients with Out‐of‐Pocket Clinical Trial Expenses

The Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA), an organization dedicated to increasing research and awareness for sarcoma, today announced that it has launched the Jordan’s Dream Fund for Clinical Trials to help cover out-of-pocket expenses for sarcoma patients participating in clinical trials. There is no fund like it in the sarcoma community. This program will provide assistance with direct expenses related to transportation (airfare, gas, rental cars, etc.), lodging and some medical expenses not covered by insurance and necessary for clinical trial treatment. Grants up to $5,000 will be awarded four times each year in September, November, February and May. Sarcoma Foundation of America announces 2022 Research Grant Awards

The Sarcoma Foundation of America (SFA), an organization dedicated to increasing research and awareness for sarcoma, today announced that it has awarded close to $1 million in research funds to deserving scientists as part and of its 2022 SFA Research Grant Program. Nineteen research grants, each worth $50,000, have been awarded to researchers who have made it their mission to study sarcoma, a cancer that arises in the body’s soft tissue and bone. Potential new treatment for soft tissue sarcoma

The FDA recently granted orphan drug status to CPI-613 (devimistat) for the treatment of soft tissue sarcoma. The maker, Rafael Pharmaceuticals, launched a phase 1/2 clinical for patients with relapsed/refractory soft tissue sarcoma. Read more about it here

2017 Artwork Contest Winners

The results of our 2017 Children’s Sarcoma Artwork Contest are in and it’s a tie! Congratulations to both Alli and Ellie, 11-year-old twins. They created their pieces in memory of their beloved brother, Brice. Brice passed away from Epithelioid Sarcoma. Alli’s artwork will be featured on the SFA’s 2017 holiday card.
