Truth and Joy necklace fundraiser
March 20, 2019 - April 30, 2019
The truth an joy necklace was created in honor of Laura Manikas and inspired by conversation had by her, her husband, and children in her final days of life.
Laura was diagnosed with an aggressive form of soft tissue sarcoma in July of 2016. For 7 months, Laura exemplified strength, courage, and grace as she endured her diagnosis and all of the complications that came with it.
During the last few days of her life, Laura said to her husband and 3 children, “If you remember anything I’ve taught you, remember this: live your life in truth and with joy, if you do this you will live a beautiful life.” Those words had a strong impact on our family, and we wanted to find a way to share this beautiful message with the world.
100% of the proceeds from the truth and joy necklace will go to the Sarcoma Foundation of America. Our goal is to continue to raise money in honor of Laura, and all people affected by this life-altering, rare, and under researched disease.
Our ultimate goal of the truth and joy necklaces is to help to increase research, treatment options, and cure rates. No one deserves to go through what Laura did, and while we cannot undo what happened, we can work to change the future for many others.
The necklace was created by Karen Krieger, a jeweler who lives in Pittsburgh. The entire piece is sterling silver with an oxidized and brushed finish. It has a lobster claw clasp and an adjustable length chain for 16 inches or 18 inches.
The cost of the necklace plus shipping is $60.00.
To order a necklace, please email Stephanie Manikas at Stephmanikas391@gmail.com.
Thank you for for reading about our mission to honor Laura and make an impact on Sarcoma, one of the many rare and under-researched cancers. It is my family’s privilege to spread the word and work to make a difference in the world of cancer.
