Jay Bontatibus

Jay BontatibusJay Bontatibus, age 52, of Los Angeles, CA, and formerly of Cheshire, CT, entered into rest on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at St. John’s Heath Center in Santa Monica, CA. Jay was born on July 31, 1964, in Cheshire, son of Michael and Frances Bontatibus.

Jay had a big heart and was fiercely loyal to his family and friends. He loved sports and was a successful high school football, lacrosse and basketball player. He played college football, was a two-time All American Collegiate Boxer, and became an avid golfer.

Jay attended Central Connecticut State University before moving to New York City to pursue an acting career. He subsequently moved to Los Angeles and was best known for his role as Tony Viscardi on the Young and the Restless. He enjoyed many other roles on various TV programs, such as General Hospital, Days of Our Lives, Port Charles, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Walker Texas Ranger, Drake and Josh, VIP and CSI. His most recent employment was at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles in Beverly Hills.

He enjoyed vacationing with his family in Cape Cod and Westbrook, CT. He had a lifelong love of dogs, especially his first dog, Rocky. He is the beloved son of Frances and Michael Bontatibus of Westbrook, CT and Naples, FL; loving brother of Rick Bontatibus and his wife, Erica of Weatogue, CT, Michael Bontatibus and his wife, Deborah of Mercer Island, WA, and Jill Beaudry and her husband, Michael of Newtown, CT. He is survived by his cherished nieces and nephews, Dante, Bella and Elena, Michael, James and Jessica, and Michaela. Jay is the nephew of Donald and Carol Maleto of Meriden, CT; and is survived by his cousins, Lisa White of Anthem, AZ and Donald Maleto of Meriden, CT.

Jay suffered from a rare form of cancer and wanted his family and friends to know that he fought until the end.  At the request of his family, memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics or the Sarcoma Foundation of America.
