Kevin David Bittner

Kevin BittnerKevin David Bittner, 61, died on April 25, 2017, at his home in West Townsend, Massachusetts, with his loving wife, Melody, at his side. He was born in Torrington, Connecticut, and educated in the Torrington public schools and later at Northeastern University.

Although never receiving formal computer training, Kevin spent most of his adult life employed as a computer engineer by Lotus, IBM, and most recently Monster.

Kevin was passionate about service and was raised a Master Mason in Beth-horan Lodge AF&AM where he also served as Worshipful Master. He was an avid reader, bird watcher, history aficionado, and military gaming strategist. A Pied Piper to both children and dogs, he will always be remembered fondly for his bright smile, big heart and goofy sense of humor.

Kevin is survived by his beloved wife, Melody, who, he said, made his life “one of love, humor, and compassion.” Kevin is also survived by his son, Aaron Bittner and wife Jessica; his daughter Emily LaBonte and husband TJ; as well as his blended family, Jared and Joshua Danker, Deepa Chungi, and Brian Meyers; grandchildren Adam, Joshua, Lizzie, Layla, Jude, Rohan, and Nico. Kevin said, “I loved them all for teaching me the true meaning of family.” Kevin is also survived by his loving sisters, Cindy, Nancy, and Pam Bittner, without whom, he said, “being a big brother would never have been possible,” and brothers-in-law Andy, David, and Bob. To all his many nieces, nephews, cousins and closest friends, Kevin wished “the very best and fullest of lives.” To the end, Kevin was devoted to his best friend and constant companion, Kip.
