Kira Smith

Kira was diagnosed at the age of 25 with a very rare cancer called metastatic high-grade malignant myoepithelioma, and doctors put her odds of survival at less than a year. 

Kira was very original and unique, and forged her own path. She had a presence and strength that is hard to define. She was able to make you want to hear what she had to say.

For five months, Kira battled cancer, taking everything in stride and showing such complete control that it inspired awe. She fought hard and never gave up. Finally, Kira lost her battle on November 4, 2021.

Due to the rarity of her cancer there were no known treatment plans and with each tried treatment the cancer continued to spread aggressively. Everyone is aware of the cancers that affect a large population but when you are diagnosed with something that you quickly realize hasn’t gotten the same focus it is the scariest thing in the world. Kira’s wish in this battle was to bring awareness and focus towards the rare cancers that no one knows about.
