Mike Hoevet

Mike Hoevet who, after his initial diagnosis in 2013, battled cancer with unwavering strength and optimism, passed away peacefully at home on October 4th, 2017.

A lover of sports, ginger snaps with his morning coffee, woodworking, fitness, and lively conversation, he could often be found enjoying college football with his family on Saturday afternoons, at Metzger’s German Restaurant enjoying rouladen, at the Liberty Athletic Club getting “jacked,” or traveling around the country visiting friends and family and watching his eldest daughter compete in track and cross country for the Purdue Boilermakers, his alma mater. He was also an avid collector of baseball memorabilia, an active participant in multiple fantasy baseball leagues, and was a devoted fan of America’s Pastime, especially his beloved Chicago Cubs and Detroit Tigers, since he was a child. He worked as a sales representative for Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals for 17 years, achieving Senior Executive status as one of the top performers in the country.

Mike could always be counted upon to lend a heart or hand to his friends and neighbors, share a hug or a laugh with friends, and he served his family and God lovingly until the very end. He presence will be sorely missed, and his memory cherished by many. His spirit will continue to inspire the colleagues, dear friends and loved ones he leaves behind. He is survived by his wife of nearly 27 years, Jo, his two daughters, Katie (Caleb) Kerr and Mallory (David) Evans.
