Robert Russell Gunn, II

Robert Gunn IIMacon, GA – Robert Russell Gunn, II, beloved husband and father, died Monday, August 10, 2015.

A native of Athens, Georgia, Rusty was the son of the late Uly Samuel Gunn, II and the late Margarett Kallmeyer Gunn Wilson. He graduated from Athens High School, The University of Georgia and The Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. He was a partner at Martin Snow LLP where he practiced law for 38 years.

Rusty served as an Elder at Northminster Presbyterian Church. He was a past Board Member of the State Bar of Georgia and he was currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association. He was a member of Idle Hour Country Club and past president of The Macon Civic Club.

Survivors include his wife of almost 41 years, Brent Shuford Gunn, who was also his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. He was so proud to pass on the Gunn family name to his two sons, Uly Samuel Gunn, III (Jenny) and Robert Shuford Gunn. “Pop” is survived by his grandchildren, Declan Russell Gunn and Vivien Margaret Gunn. He is also survived by his three sisters, Mary Gannon Gunn, Margarett Gunn Dure and Page Gunn Pate (Randy) all of Athens. Other survivors include his mother-in-law Betty Brady Shuford of Athens, his sister-in-law Jan Shuford Lanier (Tom) of Athens, his brother-in-law Harry Woolever Shuford (Hilary) of Athens, and his brother-in-law James Brady Shuford (Donna) of Macon. He is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews.
