Rodney A. Yoder, 49, passed away June 28, 2015, at Akron City Hospital. Rodney was born in Canton, Ohio. He graduated from Louisville High School and Columbus State where he received his degree in Fire Science. Rod began his fire career as a volunteer with Nimishillen Township Fire Department while still in high school. In 1990 Rod became a full time firefighter in Newark, Ohio, and a member of Local 109. In 1994 Rod moved back to North East, Ohio, and took a full time position with Stow Fire Department and is a member of Local 1662. During his time at Stow Fire he was also a member of Summit County Haz-mat team. Rod was a member of the executive board for Local 1662 and at one time held the position of President of Local 1662. In 2008 Rod joined Uniontown Fire Department and was a member of their board of directors. Rod retired with 25 years of fire service from Local 1662. Rod was a member of Grace United Church in Uniontown, Ohio, where he was an active member and served as deacon and was a board member.
Rod is survived by his wife, Hollie (of 21 years); daughter, Kaitlynn; and sons, Ryan and Reid. Rod is also survived by parents, Robert and Shirley Yoder of North Canton, Ohio; sisters, Kate Yoder of Akron, Ohio; and Geneen Yoder of Lady Lake, Florida.; nieces and nephews throughout Ohio, Virginia, and Florida. Honorary granddaughter, Miss Sophia K. Marsh of Ft. Wainwright, Alaska.
