Wednesday Warrior – Joe

 

My name is Margaret Sweeney and I had the honor to be married to Joe Sweeney.  You see, Joe was one of the bravest and optimistic people I have ever known.  He never let his cancer diagnosis get in his way.  He fought liposarcoma for four years vowing not to lose his battle.  We went to doctor to doctor hoping that one of them could find the perfect chemo to cure him.  Joe never gave up his fight even when he could not walk anymore he still went to work.  His pain was unbearable and he still was sure there would be a magic pill.

He was the proud father of our four children and Bapa to two perfect grandsons.  His zest for life was unstoppable.  He lost his fight on February 28, 2014.  He died in my arms with his children at his side and I vowed that we as a family will fight for a cure for this dreadful cancer.  I lost my best friend, the kids lost their dad, and our lives will forever have a void in it.

Joe, we miss you every hour of every day.  Our lives have forever changed because you’re not in it.
