Richard Whitson Redditt

Richard was diagnosed with an isolated spindle cell sarcoma tumor in his upper left thigh in September 2018. After months of radiation therapy and before he could surgically remove the tumor it was discovered to have spread to his lungs. Over the next ten months he fought bravely enduring multiple rounds of chemotherapy, trial drug immunotherapy and radiation therapy but none of these treatments could hold back this aggressive spindle cell cancer. Richard died on July 25th, 2019 surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Richard “Turtle” Redditt was born in 1944 and after graduating Georgia Tech he joined the United States Navy to become a Navy Pilot. He devoted his life to military service flying the F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk and F-5 Tiger and was a TOPGUN instructor pilot. Rich left the Navy to embark on a career flying heavy cargo aircraft for Flying Tiger Airlines and Federal Express all over the world. He is survived by his loving wife Pat of 46 years, 2 grown children and 3 grandchildren. His life was devoted to his family and friends.

Please donate in Richard’s memory to help raise awareness and research for this horrible disease. There is so much work to be done to help raise awareness and find a cure for Sarcoma Cancer. Sarcomas are deemed a “forgotten cancer” because of it rarity. Please consider donating today in lieu of flowers to the Sarcoma Foundation of America in memory of Rich.
