Gary M. Karcher
Karcher, Gary M., left this life on Monday, September 21, 2015, at the age of 57 after a very short, brutal fight with cancer.
Survived by his wife Theresa (Terri) (née Schmitt) Karcher and sons Jason and Scott Karcher. Additional survivors: parents Wilbert and Claudette (née Woodmansee) Karcher, siblings Kevin (Terrie) Karcher and Linda Karcher, motherin-law Eleanor Schmitt, sister-in-law Jeanne (Dave) Harmon, and nieces and nephew Grace and Ian Karcher and Francesca Harmon.
Gary was a Mizzou grad, a skilled handyman, and very proud to have ridden in the Multiple Sclerosis 150-mile Bike Ride for more than 25 consecutive years. He loved cycling, snow skiing, traveling, his large cacti collection, and watching cooking shows.
The speed at which Gary’s cancer moved left him humbled and with many regrets, the most important being the many things he wanted to do with his sons that now wouldn’t happen. He was a great friend to many and will be missed by the army of supporters that walked with him on his journey since his diagnosis in July. The only consolation to losing him so quickly is knowing that he is now resting in the arms of angels and no longer debilitated, no longer exhausted from fighting.
Gary requested memorials to the Sarcoma Foundation of America, www.curesarcoma.org.
