Karen P CooperKaren Picard Cooper’s year-long battle with cancer ended June 9, 2015, at the Hospice of Baton Rouge Butterfly Wing.

She began her life May 17, 1954, and spent her childhood in Converse, LA, graduating from Converse High School as valedictorian in 1972. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to James Clint Cooper Jr. August 17, 1972, and later moved to Baton Rouge and raised their children Deyvon, Callie, Angelle, Kara and Clint. She was a loving mother and devoted Nana to two granddaughters, Silver and Aries.

She enjoyed reading, was passionate about her two granddaughters, politics, LSU football and baseball. She recently retired from LSU and her goal was for her and her husband to visit every state after retirement. Karen was well known for her positive outlook on life and eternal optimism. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her Daddy, Johnny Picard; brother Kim Picard and beloved companions Pepper and Poco. She is survived by her husband, James; daughters: Deyvon, Callie, Angelle, Kara; son, Clint; son-in-laws Mike Dove and Shane Reulet; daughter-in-law Holly Walker Cooper and granddaughters Silver Effler and Aries Dove.
