The Alliance for Childhood Cancer, of which the Sarcoma Foundation of America is a member, is hosting the 2014 Childhood Cancer Action Days in June. The Action Days include issues and advocacy training, and pre-arranged Capitol Hill visits with Congressional Representatives and their staff. The goal is to provide the childhood cancer community – parents, children, healthcare professionals and others – with the opportunity to visit their Representatives on Capitol Hill and advocate for the important childhood cancer issues currently before Congress.  There is still time to register.  Please visit the Alliance for Childhood Cancer website for more information.

Even if you can’t attend the Action Days, you can still share your story with legislators through the Faces of Childhood Cancer Project.  We want our legislators to recognize that childhood cancer goes beyond statistics by showing them the faces of our children. Our children are more than just the cancer they experience.  These pages will be shared with legislators at the advocacy meetings we will have in June.

Instructions:

  • Please use this provided template with Alliance logo (see an example here).
  • No political messages
  • Share your child- what they love, photos, things about them
  • Tell your child’s story visually- photos and drawings work best
  • Children can/should create their own piece if possible
  • Be sure to include city and state so we can get it to the right legislator
